The healthcare professional card (CPS) is evolving and adapting to new patterns of use with the e-CPS, a means of reliable ID authentication in the form of a smartphone app.

The e-CPS is a secured means of ID authentication in the form of a smartphone app. Of a level of security equivalent to the CPS, the e-CPS enables health and social care professionals to identify themselves directly on an online service with their mobile or tablet without the need to pass via a configured station equipped with a card reader. The e-CPS is one of the ID authentication tools that online services can offer by connecting to Pro Santé Connect.

Sharing health data via MSSanté and searching for information in the DMP requires to pay a specific attention to the ID authentication of health and social care professionals. The CPS card has evolved accordingly to facilitate mobile uses and adapt to the new digital requirements.

With the e-CPS, identify yourself directly from your smartphone or tablet 

The Agence du Numérique en Santé has created two new tools to help healthcare professionals adapt to new patterns of use:

• the e-CPS, a new and reliable means of ID authentication in the form of a smartphone app;

• Pro Santé Connect, a national ID authentication service for healthcare professionals.

With a level of security equivalent to the CPS, the e-CPS enables health and social care professionals to identify themselves directly on an online service with their mobile or tablet without the need to pass via a configured station equipped with a card reader.

The e-CPS is one of the ID authentication tools that online services can offer by connecting to Pro Santé Connect.  The e-CPS is available on GooglePlay and on the AppStore.

Pro Santé Connect carries out the authentication instead of the eHealth services and saves users from having to manage this process. It renders digital services independent of the authentication means used (CPS, e-CPS, etc.). 

Pro Santé Connect, national ID for Health professionals

Pro Santé Connect is the provider of a national ID authentication service for healthcare professionals, enabling them to access their services securely.

Pro Santé Connect is a provider of ID authentication services using the OpenID standard (used by France Connect, Google Connect and many others). It enables healthcare professionals to use either their CPS (health professional ID card) or their e-CPS to access their services securely.

The services in question delegate the authentication of the ID of end-users to Pro Santé Connect.

In other words, Pro Santé Connect authenticates ID instead of the eHealth services, which affords several advantages:

• centralising and harmonising authentication data to increase security and combat leaks and attacks;

• simplifying the task of service providers;

• unifying authentication resources (an end to multiple codes, each being used for just one email or text service);

• improving the user experience: fewer passwords to memorise, unified interface, etc.
